Fisher was on a flight heading to Los Angeles on December 23 and suffered a heart attack while aboard. Emergency responders were on the ground when they landed, and Fisher was brought to the hospital. Over the weekend, Fisher's mother, Debbie Reynolds, made a statement, saying that Fisher was in "stable condition".
The actress suffered with addiction for many years, even chronicling her issues in the semi-autobiographical film, Postcards From the Edge.
She reprised her role of Princess Leia in last year's Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens and the upcoming Episode VIII.
Besides her mother, Fisher is survived by her daughter, Billie Lourd, brother Todd Fisher, and half sisters Joely Fisher and Tricia Leigh Fisher.
