Stars of 'Avatar: The Way of Water' Unite for Art Sale Benefiting The Nature Conservancy

Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, and Kate Winslet, the leading stars of "Avatar: The Way of Water" by 20th Century Studios, collaborated with renowned underwater photographer Christy Lee Rogers to create a series of photographs celebrating our oceans. These captivating images aim to raise funds in support of The Nature Conservancy (TNC).

James Cameron, the film's producer/director/writer, and a committed advocate for ocean conservation, suggested the unique underwater shoot with Rogers, known for her unconventional style of capturing subjects through the play of light refracting in water, giving the images a painterly quality.

These exclusive artworks will be launched online on March 8, 2024, featuring four limited edition, museum-quality photographs signed by Rogers. High-quality prints, both signed and unsigned, will also be available for purchase through Fraser Scott at A Gallery Artists Ltd. via Rogers' website at www.christyleerogers.com/avatar.

"I have long admired Christy's art and began collecting her works several years ago. Her unique style of shooting her subjects underwater naturally inspired me to suggest she do a special shoot with our cast," said Cameron. 

Producer Jon Landau expressed excitement about the collaboration, highlighting the perfect synergy between offering these unique art pieces and supporting TNC through the "Avatar: The Way of Water's" 'Keep Our Oceans Amazing' campaign.

In conjunction with the release of the film and Disney, a global "Keep Our Oceans Amazing" campaign was initiated to raise awareness about the challenges faced by oceans and marine life. The campaign, supporting TNC, aims to protect oceans' amazing animals and habitats, linked to the beauty of Pandora. All net proceeds from the art sales will go towards TNC's efforts to safeguard our oceans.

Christy Lee Rogers emphasized the healing power of water and expressed her honor in contributing to James Cameron, Jon Landau, and the 'Avatar' and Disney teams' vision of clean and protected world oceans through her images for TNC.

The collaboration with Christy Lee Rogers and the support from Disney and 'Avatar' contribute to a brighter future, ensuring healthier oceans for all.

"Avatar: The Way of Water," nominated for four Academy Awards®, is James Cameron's highly anticipated sequel to the 2009 blockbuster. The film explores the Sully family's journey, the challenges they face, and the battles they endure. The art sale is just one of the ways fans can contribute to TNC's goal, with 100 percent of net proceeds aiding ocean protection.

Christy Lee Rogers, a visual artist from Hawaii, known for her unique approach to underwater photography, has received numerous accolades for her work, including winning the Open Photographer of the Year at the Sony World Photography Awards in 2019.
