There is no official word on what the reason is for the departure but there are some rumors stating that it could be over budget issues. Allegedly, after the budget kept climbing, there were some cuts proposed by series producer FremantleMedia North America and thus the reason for the exit. No replacements have been named yet.
American Gods will be entering its second season and it's said that half the scripts have already been written. There is no word yet on if this will cause a delay for the expected mid-2018 premiere.
