Will Smith and director Michael Bay are set to reunite for the upcoming Netflix action film Fast and Loose. The pair, who first teamed up nearly 30 years ago for the Bad Boys franchise, are in final negotiations for this project.
Fast and Loose follows a man who wakes up in Tijuana with no memories, only to discover that he's been living two parallel lives-one as a crime kingpin and the other as an undercover CIA agent. The film was written by Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner, and Eric Pearson.
Smith, who recently exited the thriller Sugar Bandits, has been the subject of much speculation regarding his next move. After the success of Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which grossed $400 million globally, Fast and Loose emerged as the perfect follow-up project. Producers Kelly McCormick and David Leitch for 87North will join Smith in bringing the film to life, along with executives from Smith's production company, Westbrook Studios.
Bay, who directed the 2019 Netflix action film 6 Underground and the 2022 thriller Ambulance, has a proven track record with the streaming platform, making this project highly anticipated. While Smith continues to make a comeback after the fallout of the 2022 Oscars incident, his box office appeal remains strong. This makes the potential for Fast and Loose to become a hit on Netflix high, with the successful dynamic between him and Bay.
