Denis Villeneuve Set to Direct Dune Series of Films
Denis Villeneuve (Arrival) has signed on to direct the upcoming Dune series of films.  Brian Herbert (Frank Herbert's son) took to Twitter to announce the news.

"It's official -- Legendary Pictures has signed the very talented Denis Villeneuve to direct the exciting new DUNE series film project", said Herbert.

It will be interesting to see what actually comes of this, given the history of this franchise being made into film.  David Lynch directed the first adaptation in 1984, which Kyle MacLachlan, Max Von Sydow, and Sting. It was considered a disappointment, both critically and at the box office.  Rights to the franchise have gone back and forth, but eventually landed back in the hands of Herbert's estate in 2011.

Besides Arrival, Villeneuve's work includes Sicario and Prisoners.
