Neve Campbell enthusiastically announced on Tuesday her reprisal of the iconic role of Sidney Prescott in the upcoming addition to the Scream franchise. Taking to Instagram, Campbell shared her excitement about being invited back for the film, currently dubbed Untitled Scream 7. The movie will be directed by Kevin Williamson, the original Scream writer, and features a screenplay by Guy Busick.

Campbell, an integral part of the original Scream cast, sat out the sixth installment due to a pay dispute but expressed her openness to return under the right conditions as recently as January. Her last appearance in the series was in 2022's Scream, serving as a reboot for the franchise.

In her Instagram post, Campbell expressed her joy and pride at being respectfully asked to bring Sidney Prescott back to the screen. She mentioned her longstanding appreciation for the Scream films and the significant impact they've had on her career.

Furthermore, Campbell revealed her dream of collaborating with Kevin Williamson in a Scream movie, marking his directorial debut in the franchise after nearly three decades since the first script was directed by the legendary Wes Craven.

Guy Busick, known for his work on Scream 2022 and Scream VI, is set to take over the screenwriting responsibilities from James Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt, currently directing Nuremberg, will continue producing alongside Project X Entertainment partners William Sherak and Paul Neinstein, with Radio Silence serving as executive producers.

The Scream project faced recent challenges, including the departure of Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega due to various reasons, causing uncertainty about the movie's continuation. Neve Campbell's return, however, has revitalized the project.

Notably, Scream VI, released in March 2023, surpassed the original's domestic box office record, grossing $108.1 million. The global box office reached $168.9 million. Despite the success, no release date has been set for the eagerly anticipated Untitled Scream 7. Neve Campbell's involvement has rekindled excitement and anticipation among fans, ensuring the continuation of the beloved horror franchise.
